Whether you’re planning your dream honeymoon or an adventure trip, Bali has got you covered. I personally feel like Bali is a paradise offering a mesmerising blend of unique culture, natural beauty, pristine beaches, adventure and relaxation all in one place.
In this post I’ll be sharing some of our top tips for planning a Bali trip. Make sure to consider the following points that will help you plan a dream Bali vacation.

BEST TIME TO VISIT BALI
The best time for your Bali vacation honestly is up to you! The dry months of April through October have plenty of sunny days ideal for beachgoing, while the wet months of November through March are ideal for those who prefer less crowds and greener scenery. If you don’t mind rain I’d personally recommend going between November to March as due to the monsoon the prices are literally half as compared to the dry season which is the prime time for tourism in Bali.
CHOOSE WHERE TO STAY CAREFULLY
Bali has plenty of amazing places to stay from luxury resorts, 5-star hotels to various budget options. You should check where to book your accommodation carefully as there are many different areas such as Nusa Dua, Uluwatu, Ubud etc and each place has its own charm. Ubud is a beautiful mountainous region and has a more spiritual vibe while Nusa Dua, Nusa Penida Island has the most gorgeous beaches and Seminyak famous for its nightlife.
To enjoy both the sides of Bali, the mountainous and the beachy, we booked a few days in Nusa Dua and a few in Ubud.
- If you’re planning your Bai trip with family, Nusa Dua will be perfect.
- Nusa Penida or Uluwatu for a dream honeymoon.
- For the best sunsets and seafood Jimbaran Bay is a great place.
- Ubud to experience the true balinese culture.
EMBRACE THE ÉTIQUETTES
One of the biggest attractions to Bali is its unique and fascinating culture. However, often tourists offend the locals by violating their norms unintentionally. Therefore, when planning your trip to Bali do read about the local customs and norms so that you don’t offend anyone.
STAY SAFE
This is an important tip for planning a Bali trip. Due to the mass number of tourists staying safe in Bali might not be as easy as you’d hope. When in Bali you need to be aware of what’s happening around and beware especially on the streets.
The streets on this popular Indonesian island are quite busy and chaotic that’s why snatch theft is pervasive. While walking across the streets hold on to your belongings tightly. Many travellers have had bad experiences with their belongings being snatched therefore beware! Likewise make sure to lock your hotel room before going out and keep important stuff in the locker.
TAKE CARE OF YOUR STOMACH
We’ve all heard horror stories from fellow travellers who’ve been to Bali and caught the ‘Bali Belly’ which is also known as the ‘Traveller’s diarrhoea’. It’s not pleasant at all and I’m sure nobody would want to experience it on their dream Bali Getaway!
Usually tap water is to blame for the upset stomach in Bali and other countries of the region. Therefore, stick to mineral water and canned drinks and consume street food carefully.
TRAVEL WISELY
Bali is a huge island to travel around. There are many different transport options like taxi, vans, public transport and the most common one among tourists is bikes.
It’s important to note that all transport providers are not honest and can rip you off just because you’re a tourist. I’d recommend that you always take a metered taxi.
Download the ‘Blue Bird’ taxi app and travel easily across the island.
THE OCEAN ISN'T ALWAYS SAFE
Bali, as you may know, is the surfer’s paradise. But it’s not completely safe for beachgoers. The waves and current in the ocean are strong plus the exposed rocks can be very dangerous for swimmers and surfers. Always be careful when going for a swim and make sure to not go during high tide.
BARGAIN COURTEOUSLY
Bargaining is essential in Bali because if you don’t, chances are that you’ll be charged double or triple the actual prices. But do it with a smile. I believe that one should bargain because there are tourists all year round so the shopkeepers know very well how to get the most out of your pocket.
The point you need to consider here is that don’t push the price too down because after all they are also trying to make a living.
All in all, after visiting Bali, staying at different places, experiencing the typical Balinese culture, I have to say that it’s not famous for no reason! Bali is definitely one of the most beautiful destinations every traveller must visit!
When planning your dream Bali Getaway consider these points to help you plan the best and a hassle-free trip.
